The Carnival Row star expressed his confidence in their relationship during an interview with TODAY to promote his new Amazon Prime Video series. In the interview, Willie Geist of Sunday Today asked him about his grand gesture of a proposal to Perry. The Never Really Over hitmaker previously dished out details of the proposal that involved a helicopter ride on Valentine’s Day.

“Part of that was just being able to do it without having anyone around,” Bloom tells Geist with a cheeky smile. “It was like, where are you going to get to do this privately? Oh, that’s a good idea! It was like, to be honest, she loves a theme — as you see in everything that she does — and she loves a big moment. I’m still trying to get her to wrestle into the small moments.”

The actor then shared the secret behind why his relationship with the pop star is going strong.

“The cool thing about what we’re doing — we’re learning to do the small [things] together,” he explains. “We’re both fully aware that it’s a mountain to climb and that that mountain won’t stop, in terms of a relationship, because I think that’s what it is, and I love to evolve and fortunately, she does too.”

“It’s important to me that we are aligned,” he adds. “I’ve been married and divorced and I don’t want to do it again, and I want to make sure that, like, you know what I mean?”

The daughter of the late legendary comic-book writer says no one could’ve treated Stan Lee worse than Marvel and Disney’s execs.

According to Joan Celia (JC) Lee, her father would’ve appreciated Sony’s efforts to fight for the control over ‘Spider-Man’ against Disney and Marvel. Stan Lee co-created the web-slinging superhero amongst many other heroes in the Marvel universe.

Speaking to celebrity news outlet TMZ, Lee’s daughter shared her straightforward sentiments regarding the Marvel/Disney vs. Sony dispute over the ownership of Spider-Man. The parties’ failure to reach a mutual agreement resulted in the character’s departure from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

When news broke about the dispute, many painted Sony as the villain claiming that Spider-Man was rightfully Marvel’s. However, Lee’s daughter JC, would like to let everyone know otherwise. Despite her father’s substantial career with Marvel Comics, JC stood against Marvel Studios and its owner Disney.

“Marvel and Disney seeking total control of my father’s creations must be checked and balanced by others who, while still seeking to profit, have genuine respect for Stan Lee and his legacy,” Lee told TMZ. “Whether it’s Sony or someone else’s, the continued evolution of Stan’s characters and his legacy deserves multiple points of view.”

Lee also did not hold back on sharing a baffling and frankly, depressing fact about how Marvel nor Disney failed to reach out to her during her father’s death back in November 2018.

“When my father died, no one from Marvel or Disney reached out to me,” she said. “From day one, they have commoditized my father’s work and never shown him or his legacy any respect or decency.”

“In the end, no one could have treated my father worse than Marvel and Disney’s executives,” she adds.

While the WWE wrestler is currently moving forward with her life as she is now in a relationship with dancer Artem Chigvintsev, she still isn’t completely over her long-time love.

Bella got very candid about the split while she was answering a fan who asked her about on The Bellas Podcast. The reality star revealed how she deals with the painful breakup and the reason behind why she chose to leave her relationship with the wrestler-turned-actor.

“You really have to do the work on yourself,” she started off. “You really, truly have to love yourself and every day dedicate something to you that is making you better. You also have to let yourself cry. That’s one thing my life coach helped me a lot with because I still, you guys, get days that I cry about my breakup, but we were together a long time.”

Bella shares that crying was a part of her healing process saying, “So when those tears come, I don’t try to hold them in. I find a quiet place and I cry.”

As for the reason behind their split, Bella reveals that Cena’s acting career took a heavy toll on their relationship and how she “towards the end started to become a miserable person.” The star admits that distance and their time apart wasn’t really something she was down for. She then concludes that she will “never stop” loving the actor.

The President of France and the German chancellor are calling for immediate talks on the Amazon fires at the G7 summit but Brazil’s president is accusing the European leaders of colonialism.

Following French President Emmanuel Macron’s call to make the Amazon fires a priority amongst agendas at the G7 summit to take place this weekend, German chancellor Angela Merkel has expressed her support. Merkel is reportedly ‘convinced of emergency’ regarding the devastation of the Amazon rainforest. Macron earlier dubbed the situation as a global crisis that needs to be addressed immediately.

The German chancellor’s spokesman Steffen Seibert released a statement to Berlin journalist on Friday saying: “The extent of the fires in the Amazon area is shocking and threatening, not only for Brazil and the other affected countries but also for the whole world.”

“When the G7 comes together this weekend, then the chancellor is convinced that this acute emergency in the Amazon rainforest belongs on the agenda,” Seibert adds.

Brazilian president Jair Bolsonaro was enraged by Macron’s intervention accusing the president of France of taking advantage of the situation for “personal political gain”. Read the Bolsonaro’s statement below that he posted on Twitter:

“I regret that President Macron seeks to take advantage of what is a domestic Brazilian issue and of other Amazonian countries for personal political gain.”

In a second Tweet he posted, Bolsonaro accused Macron of colonialism writing: “The French president’s suggestion that Amazonian matters be discussed at the G7 without the involvement of countries of the region recalls the colonialist mindset that is unacceptable in the 21st century.”

Uncharted: film to star Tom Holland loses fourth director

Director Dan Trachtenberg has exited the film adaptation project of Sony’s video game, Uncharted. While this counts as a big loss as the film is still held back from production, Tom Holland is still attached to star in the film as Nathan Drake.

Trachtenberg (10 Cloverfield Lane, 2016) marks the third filmmaker to exit the adaptation. The lineup of directors that have come and gone include Seth Gordon (Baywatch, 2017), David O. Russel (Silver Linings Playbook, 2012) and Shawn Levy (Stranger Things, 2016). The film’s lengthy delay has gone on for years now. Levy left the film in late 2018 prior to Trachtenberg’s succession to helm the adaptation around a month later in January this year.

The film is based on the video game series of the same name, and Holland was cast for the lead role almost two years ago. It was previously announced for a late 2020 release date by Sony but the project’s debut is now treading in murky waters as the possibility of the release date’s push back may be inevitable. Uncharted has had a number of setbacks in pre-production with Trachtenberg’s exit as the latest to hit.

According to Deadline, producer Sony Pictures is already in talks with potential replacements to find a new director before fall. The project will reportedly start filming early next year. Speculations have been raised that, given the film’s reported production date, Uncharted will be ready for 2021’s summer blockbuster season. If so, it will have to go head to head against the likes of Indiana Jones 5, The Batman and Doctor Strange 2.

Taylor Swift’s new song ‘London Boy’ made rounds on the internet after fans speculated that it was he beau Joe Alwyn speaking at the beginning of the track. Lo and behold, it was actually the voice of a different famous British actor.

In the track, the actor says, “We can go driving on my scooter, you know, just around London.” This prompted fans to believe that the romantic song was an ode to Alwyn. While it’s not hard to believe that the message of the track is for the London native, it’s definitely not him who was speaking. In fact, it was Swift’s Cats co-star Idris Elba!

The surprising fact is probably a sign that Swifties shouldn’t be overanalyzing every bit of the pop star’s songs. Avid fans of Elba and regular viewers of The Late Late Show With James Corden were quick to point out that the audio clip was actually from a 2017 interview with Elba when he appeared as a guest on the talk show.

As for the context of the short dialogue, Elba was discussing what he has planned for the Omaze contest winner who will go on a date with the handsome actor a prize. While fans were left disappointed after initially finding out that it wasn’t actually Alwyn who was featured in the song, they were very excited about Elba.

Hong Kong protest: Google takes down 210 YouTube channels over misinformation

Google has removed 210 channels on its video-sharing site, YouTube, in an effort to fight against misinformation.

The 210 YouTube channels that were taken down earlier this week were related to the currently ongoing Hong Kong protests towards democracy. The search engine giant classified the channels as “coordinated influence operations” in a blog post they published on The Keyword –Google’s official blog– Thursday.

The decision followed a similar move by social media site Twitter after it suspended 936 Chinese accounts last Monday. The suspended accounts were taken down over attempts to undermine the pro-democracy Hong Kong protests. Social media giant Facebook has also suspended five accounts, seven pages, and three groups that were tied to the government of China after receiving a tip from Twitter. However, Facebook claims that the suspensions were in a move against fake accounts and not towards advertisements against the Hong Kong protests.

According to Google, the company disabled the said YouTube channels earlier in the week after it was discovered that the channels “behaved in a coordinated manner while uploading videos related to the ongoing protests in Hong Kong.” Google also found out that the channels used VPNs to hide the channels’ place of origin.

“This discovery was consistent with recent observations and actions related to China announced by Facebook and Twitter,” Google wrote in their published blog.
The influence campaigns against the Hong Kong protests are confirmed as coming from mainland China according to Twitter and Facebook. Google, on the other hand, has not confirmed whether the YouTube channels were of the same.

Football comedy series Ballers to end after its fifth season

HBO’s Ballers starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is bidding farewell to its viewers with it final run.

The series’ return on Sunday will mark it’s 5th and final season on the premium cable network. Producers of the show, including The Rock as executive producer, reportedly decided on the series’ conclusion months in advance of its scheduled debut.

Johnson posted about the show’s last season in an Instagram post writing, “My heart is full of gratitude to all of you for rockin’ with us every season.”

Ballers is created by Stephen Levinson with Mark Wahlberg, Peter Berg, and Andy Garcia as executive producers. The series is recorded as HBO’s highest-viewed scripted comedy. Its fourth season averaged 834,000 of same-day viewers in total. Along with Johnson, the show stars Rob Corddry, John David Washington and Omar Miller star alongside Johnson.

The show is the premium cable network’s latest collaboration with Levinson and Whalberg. Under the pair’s belt are HBO shows Entourage, Boardwalk Empire, How to Make It in America and In Treatment.

Ballers join the ranks of Game of Thrones, Veep, and Divorce as the network’s lineup of scripted shows receiving a send-off this year. The Deuce (David Simon) and Silicon Valley (Mike Judge) will be joining this lineup soon with its forthcoming final seasons set later this year. To take the place of Ballers as HBO’s comedy series, the network debuted The Righteous Gemstones last Sunday starring Danny McBride. The show’s first airing was a success as it is HBO’s biggest comedy release since McBride’s Vice Principals from the year 2016.
