Nicki Minaj says “it’s not easy to leave” toxic relationships

Nicki Minaj is diving deep into her experiences in a past abusive relationship to offer wise words to her fans.

The rapper took to Twitter sharing intimate details about being in a toxic relationship before and tells her fans to refrain from judging women in similar situations. Minaj says instead of laughing and putting them down it would be better to “offer sound advice from your heart & root for her to learn her worth.”

The Grammy-nominated artist even shared that seeing her parents “fight & argue non stop & never divorce” gave her the impression that red flags were “normal behavior” in a functioning relationship.

“I rlly used to think love had to hurt. So I could never look down on anyone else,” she admitted. Minaj then turned the blame on social media for establishing the idea that people have to post about their relationships to be considered as goals “for clout & attention.”

“A man should make you feel safe, not afraid,” the 36-year-old rapper added. She also opened up about the fear she felt about speaking up from fear of saying something wrong and getting hit as a consequence.

“So the diff you see in me now is that feeling when a woman feels lifted up, safe, appreciated & unconditionally loved,” she then says. Minaj is currently set to marry Kenneth Petty who she plans to marry before their second marriage license expires.

Minaj reveals that loving herself was something she had to learn first before she realized that “you wouldn’t let a man treat YOU like that b/c you love YOU.”
