Brad Pitt on aging in Hollywood: acting is “a younger man’s game”

The man who lives an extraordinary life opens up about his very normal fears.

The veteran actor opened up about his lowkey fear of phasing out in Hollywood. Pitt graced the covers of GQ Australia for its July/August issue where he becomes an open book.

The actor says of his recent forays: “I’m behind the camera on the producing side and I enjoy that a lot.” As for acting, “I keep doing less and less,” he reveals. The actor continued to explain that the industry is expected to change at one point.

“I really believe that overall it’s a younger man’s game — not that there aren’t substantial parts for older characters — I just feel, the game itself, it’ll move on naturally. There will be a natural selection to it all.”

Even so, he still look forward to what the industry holds for the future saying:
“I’m curious to see what the future of it is, what shape it takes.” With the streaming services taking the entertainment industry by a storm, Pitt says:

“I really appreciate the streaming services because we’re seeing more and more quality projects being made. We’re seeing more writers and directors and actors getting a shot. It just tells you how many talented people are out there.”

While streaming services like Netflix bring in a new generation of actors, this proves as a challenge for aging stars. And yet, Pitt has a very chill reaction to the notion saying: “I could be a dinosaur and not even know it, man,” he jokes. “And the comet could be on the way.”
