How Lily-Rose Depp really feels about working on “The King”

Lily-Rose Depp has had her fair share of films — both French and American. Now, the actress reveals why “The King” is different from any other movie she’s acted in.

The daughter of actor Johnny Depp and singer Vanessa Paradis describes working with her real-life beau Timothée Chalamet as “nerve-wracking”. In the Netflix film, Depp and Chalamet are a pair of young royals navigating their way around their status. At the film’s press day, Depp gushed about working with Chalamet ahead of The King’s October 11 theatrical release.

“It’s always exciting to work with somebody who you know has given themselves so wholeheartedly to their role and is so invested,” she tells Entertainment Tonight. “It can be nerve-wracking to work with people whose talent you admire so much, but hopefully it can only make things better,” she adds.

Depp went on to say that acting opposite Chalamet “can be intimidating,” noting that she, Edgerton and her other co-stars are big fans of the young actor’s work.

“But I think you can take it like that, or like, ‘How lucky am I to be working with so many people who are so great at what they do, and hopefully I can learn from them.’”

Netflix’s The King stars Chalamet as a prince who is reluctantly crowned after his father’s sudden death. Depp takes on the role of French royal Catherine of Valois. The film will be available for streaming on Netflix on November 1.
