Sony Animation just dropped a Twitter bomb, that being a sequel to the award-winning animated feature Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and has revealed its premiere will be on April 8, 2022.
The animated movie grossed over $375.5 million on the global box office and snagged Best Animated Feature during the 2019 Academy Awards held last February.
The Twitter clip shows different versions of Miles Morales’ Spider-Man crest, and since the whole premise of the story of the animated film revolves around a multiverse of Spider-Men (and women), one can assume that Sony might tap into different iterations of Miles in the sequel.

The news came after a brief period after Marvel and Sony squashed their beef where they stated that the fans and Tom Holland’s endeavor was the reason why the two media juggernauts agreed to this new deal.
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse focuses on the main protagonist Miles Morales after being bitten by a radioactive spider in a subway in Brooklyn, New York. Miles develops abilities that allowed him to turn into Spider-Man. After his first encounter with Peter Parker, he finds out that there are others like him having similar powers.
Miles Morales is played by Shameik Moore, Jake Johnson as Peter B. Parker, Hailee Steinfeld as Gwen Stacy, Mahershala Ali as Aaron Davis, Brian Tyree Henry as Jefferson Davis, Lily Tomlin as Aunt May, Zoë Kravitz as Mary Jane Watson, John Mulaney as Peter Porker, and Kimiko Glenn as Peni Parker. Bob Persichetti, Rodney Rothman, and Peter Ramsey co-directed the film while the screenplay was written by writer Phil Lord.
The plot for the sequel is still unknown, but after the events of the 2018 movie, fans can speculate that the Spider-characters will yet again face an ominous and grave threat that will need all of them to team up and save the world/worlds.
