Anthony and Joe Russo’s forthcoming international spy series “Citadel” will feature Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Richard Madden in lead roles.
Amazon Studios will likely announce Chopra Jonas and Madden’s high-profile casting at its TCA executive session. The two actors, who both have international profiles, will headline the U.S. or “mothership” edition of the multi-series. Local language productions of the project will hail from Mexico, Italy, and India. In collaboration with Midnight Radio, the Citadel Franchise is an action-packed spy series.
This will mark Chopra Jonas’ second major television role after she starred in the ABC series “Quantico”. The action thriller was her debut role in American television. She gained fame as a Bollywood actress, went on to become Miss World back in 2000 and made a career in the American entertainment industry. Chopra Jonas has been on the producer’s chair for a while now with projects including The Sky is Pink, the forthcoming Netflix film We Can Be Heroes, and Universal’s upcoming wedding comedy with Mindy Kaling.
As for Madden, his career is skyrocketing to new heights after his stint in HBO’s Game of Thrones. He went on to star in BBC’s Bodyguard and now the actor is one of the high-profile stars of Marvel’s The Eternals. The career-changing role will see him star amongst Angelina Jolie and Salma Hayek. His most recent project is the Sam Mendes-helmed war drama 1917 which earned a Golden Globe for Best Motion Picture in the drama category.
The big-budget series will be The Russo Brothers’ latest project after their highest-grossing film Avengers: Endgame.
