Jive’s big blue building knows a thing or two about reinvention, and about possessing a colourful, whirling history. This place was once a theatre and later became the legendary toucan nightclub in the 70’s. It then underwent 2 decades of bewildering changes: reborn as a bar, nightclub, risqué strip joint, and a comedy club. Today, jive is a live music venue for local, national and international acts. It’s original theatre design elements give it a huge advantage over many other band performance venues; making the space an acoustic winner with plenty of character. the stage stands before the sunken dance floor, so drinkers can have clear sight lines from the bar level.
