Penn Badgley’s charming yet twisted Joe Goldberg will be returning soon as Netflix announces the second season for You.

The popular show first aired on the Lifetime Network before being picked up by the streaming giant after its pilot season. Netflix has announced yesterday, November 11th that the show’s second seasons will premiere on their streaming service starting the 26th of December.

The second season of You will primarily revolve around Joe Goldberg’s new life in Los Angeles after moving away from New York where he did some really disturbing things, mainly locking up and eventually murdering his then-girlfriend Guinevere Beck played by Elizabeth Lail (Dead of Summer, The Blacklist).

It seems like things will if nothing else, pick up from the discreetly grotesque nature of the show as Joe seemingly obsesses over another young woman in Love Quinn portrayed by Victoria Pedretti (Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, The Haunting of Hill House), an aspiring chef in Los Angeles. Badgley shared earlier this year that some scenes from the second season made him feel sick due to their nature. He motioned that he had to work with prosthetic bodies in this second season that made him very nauseous while filming the scenes.

You’s season one follows Joe Goldberg (Badgley). a manager at a New York bookstore where he meets Guinevere Beck (Lail), an aspiring writer and university assistant and immediately gets smitten by her. Joe’s infatuation drastically turns into an unhealthy obsession with Beck as he traces her life via social media and other means while dealing with other aspects of his life like his relationship with his neighbors while eliminating whatever or whoever is there to impede their ‘perfect’ relationship. Things turn from dreamy to an outright nightmare for the aspiring writer as Joe goes full psycho, eventually locking her up in the bookstore’s safe room where Joe completes his ‘turn’, and ultimately taking her life.

Other cast members of You season 2 are James Scully (Heathers), Jenna Ortega (Stuck in the Middle, Elena of Avalor), and a surprise character from the first season. It is still unconfirmed whether John Stamos (Full House, ER, Fuller House) will return in season 2 as Dr. Nicky. Showrunner Sera Gamble (Supernatural, The Magicians) told the Hollywood Reporter earlier this year that they would like to tell his story and explore the possibilities with the character.

You season 2 will premiere on Netflix next month, December 26th.
