In Memoriam: Celebrities who passed away in 2019

2019 was an amazing year for film and television, with an abundance of movies and TV shows that have somewhat changed the landscape of the business called show. From amazing directors, talented writers and phenomenal actors, 2019 was indeed very fruitful for Hollywood both quality and quantity. But that doesn’t take away the fact that we have lost some amazing people in the industry, so to honor their memory in this new year of 2020, let us go back and remember their contribution to the entertainment industry.

Television:

Luke Perry

The former heartthrob’s untimely passing last March at the young age of 52 shocked the television world, given that he was currently starring in the CW teen drama, Riverdale. Perry was also known for his time in Beverly Hills 90210 and has also appeared in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood by Quentin Tarantino last year.

Diahann Carroll

The iconic actress and songstress passed away at the age of 84 last October 4th and is regarded as the first African-American actress to headline her own television show, Julia back in 1968. Carroll was also a TV Hall of Fame member when she was inducted back in 2011.

René Auberjonois

The Emmy nominee passed away just this December 8th, he was 79 years old. Auberjonois is known for his roles in shows like The Practice, Boston Legal, and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.

Tim Conway

The comedian passed away last May at the age of 85. Conway had a prolific career, winning the Emmy Award six times for his contributions in shows like 30 Rock, Coach, and The Carol Burnett Show. The actor is also a TV Hall of Fame member, being inducted back in 2002.

 

Film:

Doris Day

The legendary songstress and actor passed away last May 13th at the old age of 97. She was nominated for an Oscar in her role in Pillowtalk. Day is also well-known for being in films like Send Me No Flowers, The Man Who Knew Too Much, and The Pajama Game. The actress also had her own talk show on the CBS titled The Doris Day Show.

Peter Fonda

The Oscar nominee passed away last August at the age of 79. Fonda was known for his roles in Ulee’s Gold and is also well known for being in one of Hollywood’s famed acting families with his sister Jane and his daughter Bridget.

Peter Mayhew

The original Chewbacca passed away last April, he was 74 years old.

Danny Aiello

The Golden Globe and Oscar nominee passed away just this December at the age of 86. Aiello is beloved for his roles in Do the Right Thing, Fort Apache, The Bronx, Moonstruck, and Jacob’s Ladder.

Sylvia Miles

The two-time Oscar nominee died at the old age of 94 last June 12th. Miles is famous for her roles in Midnight Cowboy, Farewell, My Lovely, and other movies like Heat and Wall Street.
