Gold Coast Wax Museum

Gold Coast Wax Museum is one of the longest lasting attractions on the Surfers Paradise scene. Founded in 1968, the Wax Museum was located in The Wax Museum arcade amongst the lively glitter strip that Surfers Paradise was known, and still is, known for.

The front of the building was covered in smaller versions of the famous face that they have today. It featured a dungeon for the Chamber of Horrors which is accessible by a spiral staircase.

In year 1996, The Wax Museum was relocated to Gold Coast Highway. This new location debuted the much bigger famous face at ground level. The face on their current location is the same face, although it has had many a ‘facelift’ to maintain its aesthetic over the years.

At this location they experienced such rapid growth that they outgrew their location and looked for a larger space to display their newly purchased wax figures. The new location needed to allow room for expansion and to facilitate the speedy growth of the tourist industry at this time.

In 2002 they relocated to their current residence on 56 Ferny Avenue. This location also gave them the opportunity to once again create a ‘dungeon’ for the Chamber of Horrors and a much larger space for the Famous People section.

REVIEWS:

“The staffs were very friendly and have good sense of humor. Very Informative tour of Chamber of Horrors. I was also given ample time to translate in Chamber of horrors.
It took us 30 minutes to go through Chamber of horrors and and the famous people section. The most remarkable thing was the friendly nature of the staffs.” –

REVIEWS:

“There isn’t much to dislike about movie world unless you hate fun.. this park is filled with the most thrilling coasters imaginable and heart pounding rides. There is ample fun for the kids in their own section of the park. If you aren’t into rides there isn’t a great deal for you here to be fair. A movie theatre playing 1 movie, good food and a stunt show. Other than that you may be going as a bag and loose items carrier for the people who are riding but not doing a whole lot.” – Zac Mawdsley

REVIEWS:

“One of the highlights of the Gold Coast. What stunning views. We were extremely surprised at the affordable cost of food and drinks up in the observation deck (we would have expected very high markups; which was not the case). We were very impressed that the prices were similar as on the street. Good coffee, stunning views. What more could you ask for. If I was to go back I would definitely make sure I get the ticket that has the food voucher attached.” – Samuel Mackenzie
