Home State Hobart
Home State Hobart is owned by Emily and James who are both new to Hobart, coming all the way to the big smoke from the North West Coast of Tasmania, where they both grew up! They moved to Melbourne for university but quickly realized that Tasmania is home.
The name ‘Home State’ is about how lucky they feel to be back living in Tasmania, and also references how important the ‘state’ of being at ‘home’ is to them: feeling comfortable and at ease, and surrounded by the things and people they love! They hope to bring some of those homely luxuries and comforts to the people of Hobart at their store.
Home State Hobart showcases a handpicked range of gift & homewares, fashion & design, books & ceramics, skincare & candles, baby and kids toys & clothing. Ultimately, they want to share with Tasmania their favourite local, Australian and international designers – items they would love to give to friends and family, or perhaps treasure for themselves.

“We stopped by this amazing shop looking around Hobart. The staff were so lovely. The store sources a lot of local, independent artists. I would say over 80% was hand made. So many wonderful finds. My fiancé purchased some lovely handmade earrings. I found a super cute dish for my engagement ring.” – Ash Ivory
Lily & Dot
Lily & Dot is named after the owner Katinka’s grandmothers, who taught her to sew, crochet and embroider – traditional crafts that are the cornerstone of the Lily & Dot’s ethos, with a contemporary twist.
Lily & Dot celebrates handmade and locally designed treasures, with a nod to vintage style. Online and in their Midtown Hobart store you’ll find jewellery, baby blankets, ceramics, softies, books, candles, cards and one-of-a-kind gifts.

“Such a great range of gifts for all ages as well as terrific homewares. Extremely friendly service and always able to help even if they don’t have what you are after.” – Steve D.
Popcorn Street is owned by Jeremy Edwards and Jason Niaura. Popcorn Street has actually been years in the making. They originally started over 8 years ago as Tusk, and from there Popcorn Street grew. It was pretty much a natural transition. Imagine putting a bag of popcorn in the microwave, once it starts you can’t stop it… it just grows and pops. Buttery Goodness!
