Uma Thurman and Quentin Tarantino are discussing the third installment in the Kill Bill franchise.

Rumors of a Kill Bill Vol. 3 have been circulating in recent years but Tarantino poured ice-cold water to the claims when he talked about his plans to retire from filmmaking to GQ Australia. He told the publication that he has a 10-film cap, and after achieving the 10 films he’s prepared to retire. So far, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is his 9th film and it won’t be long until he finally retires from directing. But, it looks like Kill Bill Vol. 2 won’t be the last of the Thurman-lead franchise as it might be Tarantino’s 10th and last film.

In an interview on the Happy Sad Confused podcast of MTV, the director confirmed that he’s still in talks with Thurman regarding the continuation of their cult martial arts film series.

“Me and Uma have talked about it recently, frankly, to tell you the truth,” Tarantino said. “I have thought about it a little further. We were talking about it literally last week. If any of my movies were going to spring from my other movies, it would be a third ‘Kill Bill.’”

There you have it, so a third Kill Bill will possibly be in the works. Kill Bill Vol. 1 made a debut back in October 2003 and featured a sword-wielding Lucy Liu. Its sequel Kill Bill Vol. 2 immediately followed as it made an April 2004 debut. Tarantino hasn’t been shy about voicing his desire to continue the series and end it as a trilogy. The director said in the past that a third installment would focus on Vernita Green’s adult daughter pursuing revenge against Beatrix/The Bride for murdering her mother.
