Ben Affleck and Matt Damon to make a big screen reunion

It has been more than two decades since Boston’s prodigal sons appeared on the silver screen in the Oscar-winning Good Will Hunting. Now, Ben Affleck and Matt Damon are reportedly reuniting in a forthcoming Ridley Scott film.

The pair are co-starring and co-writing the upcoming film, The Last Duel according to initial reports from Deadline.

Scott has directed Damon in The Martian (2015), a science fiction film that sees Damon as an astronaut left behind by his team on Mars during a mission gone wrong.

The new film they will next be working on with Affleck is based on Eric Jager’s 2005 novel about dueling warriors set in medieval France. According to the book’s synopsis:
“the gripping, atmospheric true story of the ‘duel to end all duels’ in medieval France: a trial by combat pitting a knight against a squire accused of violating the knight’s beautiful young wife.”

So will we be seeing the two as foes? We’ll have to wait until further details are confirmed. The Hollywood mainstays will pen the script alongside Academy Award nominee, Nicole Holofcener.

Holofcener is known for her work in adapting ‘Can You Ever Forgive Me?’ for film.

Affleck and Damon will be producing the film under their Pearl Street Films banner as they join forces with Scott’s Scott Free Productions.

Affleck and Damon have known each other since childhood. They both rose to Hollywood stardom after winning Best Original Screenplay for Good Will Hunting in the 1997 Oscars. Both actors starred alongside the late Robin Williams.
