Shawn Mendes is pushing philanthropic efforts to give back to his fans. The young artist wants to use his massive following for the benefit of multiple charity organizations.

The Señorita hitmaker announced big news last Wednesday with the launch of The Shawn Mendes Foundation. The charity foundation gives fans a platform to “amplify the causes” that his fans feel passionate for. Mendes says the effort was made to “inspire, empower and act.”

Mendes took to social media to release the exciting news. On Instagram, the singer shared a clip of him sending an empowering message to his concert audience. The singer explained in the caption that the foundation was a long time coming and was made “to further help them [his fans] make their voices heard.”

“Our generation has the power to change the future of our planet, and to help carry that change forward for so many generations to follow,” Mendes added. The 21-year-old crooner explained that the foundation is a way for him to work with his fans “to give back and take action” and shared the website for the cause.

The newly launched charity foundation’s first two projects are with SickKids in Canada and REVERB. The first is a Toronto based charity that supports medical funding for patients up to 18 years old. REVERB, on the other hand, is a non-profit organization that supports environmental conservation efforts that collaborates with artists.

Fans immediately showed their support for Mendes’ newest endeavor evidenced by the foundation’s website crashing shortly after the singer’s announcement.
