Pop TV gives ‘One Day at a Time’ another chance after Netflix cancellation

Fans of One Day at a Time rejoice! After rallying with the hashtag #SAVEODAAT, the show is finally given a second life at Pop TV.

After running for only three seasons on Netflix, the streaming giant decided not to renew the sitcom for a fourth season. Netflix made the saddening announcement last March via Twitter saying:

“We’ve made the very difficult decision not to renew One Day At A Time for a fourth season. The choice did not come easily — we spent several weeks trying to find a way to make another season work but in the end simply not enough people watched to justify another season.”

But fans of the show wanted to prove the streaming giant wrong. #SAVEOODAAT went viral shortly after the announcement of the series’ cancellation.

While Netflix snubbed the trending pleas of fans to save the show, Pop TV has decided to step in and take over. Last Thursday, the CBS television channel posted the news on their official Twitter account. The post featured a video of show star Rita Moreno dancing in the family living room. Pop TV wrote in the video’s caption: “When you find out a new season of One Day at a Time is coming to Pop.”

Fans of the show are nothing short of overwhelmed with the news. One passionate Twitter user said:

“THANK YOU FOR SAVING ONE OF THE BEST SERIES OF CURRENT, I DO NOT HAVE WORDS TO EXPRESS SUCH HAPPINESS IN MY HEART
BRAZIL FANS LOVE ONE DAY AT A TIME SO MUCH”

Moreno herself celebrated the news with a Tweet saying:

“#SAVEODAAT is old news…#MoreODAAT is more like it!! Thank you @PopTV #ODAAT @OneDayAtATime we’re backkkk!!”
