Nicki Minaj and Kenneth Petty have finally tied the knot after months of speculation from the fans. This is rapper’s first marriage.

The Megatron rapper announced on social media about the news last Monday with a video snippet showing ‘Mr’ and ‘Mrs’ mugs beside ‘bride’ and ‘groom’ baseball caps. Minaj captioned her new married name, Onika Tanya Maraj-Petty dated October 21st.

A lot of congratulatory messages were commented in her post from celebrities like Christina Aguilera, Winnie Harlow, NeNe Leakes, among others.

Last June, the rapper revealed that she and Petty obtained their marriage license. She explained that she now has the thing she was striving for, which was happiness.

“It was so hard to get to a happy place. Now that I’m there I don’t want to compromise that for anyone or anything.” she added.

A marriage license expires within 90 days however, and the couple wasn’t able to march down the altar in time within the given time period. Last August 12th, the rapper told her fans that they got another license and will elope within 80 days. Minaj explained that they have filed for the marriage license and wasn’t able to pick it up due to the fact that she was on the road and by the time she had returned, the couple had to renew the license again.

Minaj shared, “From that time, you have 90 days to get married. That was about a week ago, so now I have about 80 days,” The rapper also stated that they wanted to opt for a more private ceremony before having a grander celebration.

Minaj added that she had to work on her album and that she had to focus on that first before thinking of the wedding.

“I’ll be married before my album comes out, but will have my wedding after the album comes out. Before the 90 days is over, yes, I will be married.”

Rumors circulated that the couple—who grew up together secretly eloped following the days after Minaj changed her twitter handle to ‘Mrs. Petty’. Though still going to be continuously known as Nicki Minaj, the rapper will now be going with the hyphenated title of Mrs. Maraj-Petty.

Minaj shared that she was happy that her husband is not famous, “It’s the truth, money cannot buy me happiness and good sex,” the rapper declared.

The Grammy nominee previously dated Meek Mill and was allegedly linked to Nas before reuniting with Petty.
