Marvel still wants Keanu Reeves in the MCU

The actor is reportedly in talks to play a lead character in the upcoming The Eternals.

It looks like Marvel isn’t letting go of Keanu Reeves just like that. According to MCU Cosmic, the 54-year-old actor is currently in the earliest stage of casting for The Eternals. There’s no word as of yet regarding the potential role for the actor but the thought of his involvement in MCU’s phase 4 is truly exciting.

Reeves would have been welcomed in the Marvel Cinematic Universe much earlier. Prior to production, he was the top choice to play Yon-Rogg in Captain Marvel. The actor, however, had to drop out of the role due to scheduling conflicts with John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum. The role was eventually handed to Jude Law and no one’s complaining.

Fans were quite disappointed that they didn’t get to see Reeves play opposite of Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel. Apparently, so was Marvel now that they are reportedly pushing for Reeve’s MCU debut once again. And since Reeves was down for it if not for the scheduling conflicts, it might actually come true.

It might be easier now considering that the actor has a role in Pixar’s Toy Story 4 as Duke Kaboom. One thing’s for sure, he’s definitely within Disney and Marvel Studios’ reach. But even so, they have to act fast now that the 4th installment in the John Wick series is set to premiere on May 21, 2021.

Whether it be a titular character in The Eternals or a different role in another movie, we’ll hopefully get to see him in the MCU’s highly covert phase 4.
