The costume designer for HBO’s Game of Thrones has revealed insightful details on Kit Harrington’s current struggles.
Michele Clapton who worked with the cast on the show for almost a decade shared her thoughts on the issue with Us Weekly. In an interview during the 2019 Designing Women Awards, the designer said:
“They were children when they started. And it became such an enormous thing, and I think when you stop, it’s sort of a huge security blanket is taken away. I mean, they all became friends with each other, and then suddenly, there’s nothing to go back to,”
“So I would imagine that had something to do with it. He lost his way a bit,” Clapton added.
The Emmy winning costume designer noticed tell-tale signs of the actor’s struggles. Harrington found it difficult to cope with the show’s ending and was visibly upset during the last read through for the script. Clapton continued:
“He was really a sensitive soul, and he was very upset in that final read through because I think it felt like home for [the cast], and they realized, ‘This is it,’”
“As much as he’s talented and will go on to many other things, I think it’s just after eight or nine years, it’s a big adjustment. I’m sure he’ll be OK, though.”
Late last month, it was reported that Harrington checked himself into a luxury wellness treatment. According to the actor’s reps said that the actor was on a “wellness retreat”. This was ahead of the Game of Thrones’ final episode airing.
