Sydney’s Best Craft Breweries:
Here are the top rated Craft Breweries in Sydney:
- Young Henrys
- Wayward Brewing Co.
- Rocks Brewing Co
Young Henrys is an eclectic group of passionate brewers, distillers, musicians and artists, united for the love of good beer and fine gin. Like most good stories, Young Henrys started over a beer. Meeting on opposite sides of the bar, Richard Adamson and Oscar McMahon got talking over their love of beer and music, also discovering they shared the view that the Australian beer scene was behind the times – that it should be more adventurous, innovative and fun. With Richard’s brewer experience, and Oscar’s hospitality expertise, they decided they should do more than talk.
In 2012, after a long search for a permanent home, Young Henrys Brewery was officially born in Newtown. With a few friends and a small brew kit, they set about ensuring no local would ever go thirsty again! Now in 2016, the brewery is growing at break-neck speed, with a bustling tasting bar and servicing hundreds of local and national watering holes. Young Henrys has most recently incorporated a distillery into the family, with their gold medal winning Noble Cut gin and more hand crafted spirits to be released soon.

“What a great place! Down a little side street but you know you’re almost there when you here everyone having a great time. Small space but great atmosphere. Bar staff are very welcoming and knowledgeable. It was my first time here and so they gave me a run down of the beers and she flavour profiles. Definitely will return next time I’m back in Sydney!” – Jamie Lovett
Wayward Brewing Co.
Wayward Brewing Co. was founded by Peter Philip and Shaun Blissett. They believe craft beer is all about flavour, so they source the right ingredients from all over the world and don’t rush the result. Sometimes this means their beers take a little longer to make and they’re okay with that.
At Wayward, they operate a modern 20hL, four-vessel brew-house (mash tun, lauter tun, brew kettle and whirlpool) and a combination of 40hL and 20hL fermentation vessels. They sell their beer in draught by the keg, primarily to local pubs and restaurants. Their in-house bottling line runs twice a week, supplying boutique bottle shops with packaged stock of their core range beers and seasonal releases.
