Catherine is a fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP), Clinical Director at Brisbane Specialist Suites and was the first Psychiatry trainee in Australia and New Zealand to complete Advanced Training in both Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Addiction Psychiatry. Dr. Matthew Hocking
Dr. Matthew Hocking graduated with a Bachelor of Science (Med) and Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from the UNSW. He went on to train as a Psychiatrist in Queensland and is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP), completing an advanced training certificate in General Adult Psychiatry with his fellowship.
Dr. Hocking has undertaken extensive additional training in Addiction Psychiatry and has more than 10 yearsā experience working in this area, both in patients admitted to hospital and those seeing him in his rooms. He has also pursued training in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) as well as Eye Movement Desensitisation & Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy.
Dr. Hocking has a special interest in managing addiction disorders, mood disorders, and anxiety disorders. He has also developed skills in diagnosing and managing ADHD, as well as providing psychological interventions to manage chronic pain. In managing addiction and chronic pain, he has faced many victims of trauma and has subsequently developed his abilities in managing PTSD.
In addition to his private practice clinic, Dr Hocking has admitting rights to the Damascus Unit at Brisbane Private Hospital, for the in-patient and follow-up care of patients suffering from addiction disorders. Dr. Salvatore Catania ā Northside Child & Youth Psychiatry
Dr. Salvatore Catania has been working as a psychiatrist since 2009, is a Fellow of the Royal and Australian College of Psychiatrists, and a member of the Australian and New Zealand Academy of Eating Disorders. Dr. Catania has worked for a number of public mental health clinics and hospitals throughout his career, and is currently Medical Director for the Child and Youth Mental Health Services (CYMHS), as the consultant psychiatrist for their Eating Disorders Service. Dr. Catania sees all children, adolescents and adults for a wide range of mental health conditions, including developmental disorders, OCD, ADHD, anxiety, depression, psychosis and behavioural issues.
Dr. Catania also provides all the necessary medical investigations and medication prescribing for mental health conditions, and is happy to work with other medical, allied health professionals, and schools as part of a multi-disciplinary treatment team. Dr. Catania works from a variety of frameworks, especially family therapy and behavioural therapy. He is an accredited Family Based Therapy (FBT) provider for eating disorders, of which he has a special interest in, and is also undergoing accreditation in Attachment Based Family Therapy (ABFT) for depressed and suicidal adolescents.
