Dr Penny Blomfield is a Gynaecological Oncologist who is qualified to care for women with gynaecological cancers. She specialises in the care of women who are diagnosed with cancer of the ovary, fallopian tube, uterus, cervix and vulva and vagina. She is an advanced laparoscopic pelvic surgeon and is frequently involved with the care of women who require more challenging benign pelvic surgery.

She has also had a long interest and expertise in colposcopy of the female genital tract.

Dr Blomfield carried out her basic medical training and subsequent specialist certification in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in the UK. She emigrated to Australia in 1994 following her marriage to an Australian. She then completed a fellowship in Gynaecological Oncology at the Mercy Hospital for Women in Melbourne for 2 years, and a further one year in Halifax Novascotia, Canada, and achieved her subspecialist certificate in Gynaecological Oncology.

Dr Raef Awad graduated from the University of Alexandria in 1991 before training at Alexandria University Hospital in Egypt, completing his Masters in radiation oncology. In 2002 Dr Awad pursued a Clinical Research Fellowship in radiation oncology at the University of Alabama in the United States, and published many papers in a series of reputable radiation oncology journals, including the International Journal of Radiation Oncology, Biology, Physics.

In 2005 Dr Awad was appointed as Associate Professor of Clinical Oncology at the University of Alexandria. By 2007 he was practicing as a radiation oncologist at King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre in Saudi Arabia. He moved to Australia in 2011 and was awarded the Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists in August 2012. Dr Awad practiced as radiation oncologist in the Mater Hospital and Macquarie University Hospital in Sydney before moving to Hobart in February 2013 as Staff Specialist Radiation Oncologist and Director of Training at the Royal Hobart Hospital. In 2016 he was appointed as Clinical Senior Lecturer in the School of Medicine at the University of Tasmania.

Dr Rosemary Harrup graduated from the University of Melbourne. She gained training at the Launceston General Hospital, Austin and Repatriation Hospital and the Royal Hobart Hospital in both Medical Oncology and Clinical Haematology, completing a dual Fellowship in 2001.

She is a fulltime cancer clinician and currently Head of Department (Medical Oncology/Haematology) at the Royal Hobart Hospital, Director of the Cancer Clinical Trials unit RHH and the immediate past Chair of the Medical Oncology Group of Australia. She has a strong interest in clinical research particularly in the area of Cancer Clinical Trials. Rosemary is a Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, a member of the Tasmanian Cancer Registry Advisory Committee and of the RHH Research Foundation Scientific Advisory Committee and was previously a member of the CCT Scientific Advisory Group for over 10 years before joining the Cancer Council Tasmania Board early in 2015.
