In 2019, Paul transitioned across to working with the XING Technologies teams to deliver their innovations.Ā Paulā€™s initial Medical Oncology training was undertaken in Sydney at Royal Prince Alfred and Royal North Shore hospitals before moving to the Royal Marsden, London ā€“ initially as Gynaecologic Oncology Research Fellow (under Prof. Martin Gore) then as Breast Cancer Research Fellow (under Prof. Ian Smith).

Paul gained experience at the Institute of Cancer Research undertaking an MD in cell death in the laboratory of Prof. Mitch Dowsett and thereafter gained his UK qualifications, thereafter consulting to Guyā€™s, Kingā€™s and St Thomasā€™ NHS Trusts and conducting rooms at the London Bridge and Harley St Oncology Clinics.

In 2002, Paul returned to Australia as Director of Medical Oncology, Mater Adult Hospital. He was responsible for establishing a solid tumour oncology research program that collaborated with basic laboratory researchers (Prof. Derek Hart) utilising the latest genetic and pharmacology technologies applied to phase I (first in man) new cancer drug development and dendritic-cell therapy.

In 2008, Paul joined ICON Cancer Care and continued his clinical research as well asĀ clinical care activities, leading to multiple first in Australia phase II/III trials. As a result of his clinical research, Paul has published national, international studies incorporating phase I (first-in-man), phase II (proof of safety/efficacy), phase III (randomised new therapy vs. standard) and past-marketing (phase IV) trials sponsored by philanthropy, co-operative group as well as the pharmaceutical industry.

He has published extensively in the New England of Medicine, Lancet, LancetĀ Oncology, Journal of Clinical Oncology amongst others.

In 2013, XING Technologies was co-founded with Prof. Mathias (Matt) Trau to commercialise technologies created in his laboratory.

Dr. Rick Abraham graduated from the University of Queensland with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery in 1985. He trained in medical oncology at the Royal Brisbane and Royal Melbourne Hospitals. He then completed a post-graduate clinical research fellowship at the University of Toronto in the Autologous Bone Marrow Transplantation Unit (breast cancer program) under the supervision of Dr. Michael Crump and Dr. Paul Goss, investigating high dose chemotherapy strategies to treat high risk adjuvant and metastatic disease patients.

Whilst in Canada, he also completed a masters degree in clinical epidemiology with Professors John Mc Laughlin and Steven Narod (co-discover of the BRCA1/2 gene mutations), exploring the relationship between hereditary ovarian cancer and outcomes following chemotherapy. On his return to Brisbane, Dr. Abraham was appointed to the Royal Brisbane and Prince Charles Hospital as a staff specialist in oncology. He has been heavily involved in teaching undergraduate and post-graduate medical students in addition to being a lead investigator for numerous major international trials.

Despite having left the RBH to pursue full time private practice in 2012, Dr. Abraham remains passionate about clinical research and has a major interest in the treatment of breast, lung, urological and gastro-intestinal tract malignancy. Dr. Abraham has been a previous chair of the Clinical Oncological Society of Australia Lung Cancer Group and a member of the Queensland Co-operative Oncology Group steering committee since its inception. This group is intimately involved in overseeing the funding of clinical trial nursing and data management support across oncology centres throughout Queensland. Dr. Abraham consults at several Northside locations, including Icon Cancer Centre Chermside, Caboolture Private Hospital, and Holy Spirit Northside Private Hospital.

Dr. James Nicklin is a Gynaecologic Oncologist treating cancers, pre-cancers and complex benign conditions. Dr. Nicklin is extensively trained in conventional open surgery and has a special interest in laparoscopic and robotic surgery.Ā  He is heavily involved in teaching, research and medical aid programs.Ā  He has been practicing at the WesleyĀ Hospital since 1995.

Dr. Nicklin is a graduate of the University of Queensland and undertook his internship and residency at the Royal Brisbane and Royal Womenā€™s Hospitals. He subsequently went on to do specialty training in obstetrics and gynaecology in Queensland. He completed his sub-specialty training in gynaecologic oncology at the Royal Hospital for Women in Sydney and the Ohio State University, USA. Dr Nicklin returned to Queensland and set up practice as a Gynaecologic Oncologist in late 1995.

He is currently an Associate Professor of Gynaecologic Oncology at University of Queensland, Director of Gynaecologist Oncology at the Royal Brisbane and Womenā€™s Hospital and he conducts his private practice at the Wesley Hospital. He is a member of the Australian Medical Association, the Australian Society for Gynaecologic Oncologists, the International Gynaecological Cancer Society, the Australian Society of Colposcopsy and Cervical Pathology and the Australian Gynaecological Endoscopy Society. A/Prof is also a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists.
