Dr. Alberto Pinzon Charry specializes in the treatment and management of diseases in infants, children and adolescents that result from abnormalities of the immune system. Dr. Alberto received his medical degree from the National University of Columbia in 1999. This was followed by a PhD in Immunology at the University of Queensland, completed in 2005; and, subsequently, a Postdoctoral Fellowship in Immunology at the Queensland Institute of Medical Research and a Fellowship in Paediatric Allergy and Immunology at the Royal and Lady Cilento Childrenā€™s Hospitals, completed in 2016.

Dr. Alberto completed his Paediatric training through the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in various hospitals through the Queensland health hospital network, including the Royal and Lady Cilento Childrenā€™s Hospitals, the Prince Charles Hospital, the Royal Brisbane and Womenā€™s Hospital, as well as Ipswich and Caboolture Hospitals. During training he also worked as a paediatric locum in various hospitals in New South Wales and Tasmania.

Dr. Alberto has broad interest in immunological disease, including allergy and immunity to infection. He has an active interest in research and teaching and holds academic appointments with the University of Queensland and Griffith University. Dr. Alberto is an active member of the Australasian Society of Clinical Immunology and Allergy, the World Allergy Organisation, the Clinical Immunology Society and the Australasian Society of Infectious Diseases. His research has yielded numerous publications and his contribution has been recognized through competitive funding and accolades like the Queensland Premierā€™s Award for Health and Medical Research (2006), the Queensland Tall Poppy Award for Outstanding Achievements in Scientific Research (2009) and the Queensland Trainee Research Excellence Award by the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in Paediatrics (2012).

As a parent to two teenage children, Dr. Alberto understands the many different challenges families face, including those that have children with allergies and abnormalities of the immune system. Through his work at Paeds in a pod, he aims to help his patients and their families to manage their disease and live normal happy lives. Dr. Alberto works in partnership with other practitioners, including the Paeds in a pod nutritionist, Gastroenterologist and General Paediatricians, as well as other specialists and allied health services to provide the highest level of quality medical care for your children.
