Dr Michael Coombes has almost 20 years experience as a Cardiologist. He trained at Royal North Shore Hospital, Sydney, and Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Sydney, as a General Physician. He then underwent training at Royal Hobart Hospital and Flinders Medical Centre, Adelaide, in Cardiology. He subsequently received advanced training in echocardiography and electrophysiology and in 2016 completed a course in CT angiography.
Dr Coombes is always available to give advice to GPs and accept their patients for acute care treatment in Hobart Private Hospital.

Hobart Heart Center
Dr Luke Galligan trained locally graduating from the University of Tasmania medical school and initially training at the Royal Hobart hospital, completing basic physician training and beginning training in cardiology. He then continued cardiological training at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney and the Children’s Hospital in Sydney where he undertook training in paediatric cardiology. He then subsequently completed an interventional cardiological fellowship in Canada .
Following return to Hobart in 1990 he has worked jointly in private practice and as a VMO in cardiology at the Royal Hobart hospital. He has an ongoing involvement with the medical school. His practice includes all aspects of general cardiology with special interests in interventional and paediatric cardiology.

Dr Nathan Dwyer has clinical interests in the management of coronary artery disease, percutaneous coronary intervention, and pulmonary hypertension. Graduating from the University of Tasmania in 2000, he completed his specialty cardiology training at the Royal Hobart Hospital in 2007. He was awarded his PhD in 2010 by researching pulmonary blood flow before undertaking 2 years of subspecialty training in coronary intervention and clinical research at the Libin Cardiovascular Institute of Alberta, Calgary, Canada. Nathan is a staff cardiologist at the Royal Hobart Hospital with teaching responsibilities and manages the Tasmanian Pulmonary Hypertension Service.
