Anthony Mackie: The Falcon & The Winter Soldier has started filming

One of the big upcoming streaming platforms that will soon rival Netflix is almost here. Disney+ is set to be launched in about a week and one of their future flagship shows The Falcon and The Winter Soldier has started its principal photography.

TFTWS will feature Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan as the titular characters and have taken over Marvel’s Instagram account to promote the upcoming show. The series won’t be available until the fall of 2020 on the Disney+ streaming platform but the situation is rife for hyping.

Bucky Barnes (Stan) and Sam Wilson (Mackie) were last seen during the ending scene of Avengers: Endgame where they were both met by an elderly Steve Rogers (Chris Evans). Cap went back in time to live the life he had dreamed of with Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell) and has passed down his shield to Wilson to become the new Captain America.

The series will presumably have Wilson and Barnes try and figure out how to carry on Captain America’s legacy now that Steve Rogers has passed on his mantle to them. It would be very interesting to see where their dynamic and the story will go from here on out, and what baddies will they face along the way as their story unfolds.

Besides Mackie and Stan as the top-billed actors in the series, a couple more actors has been confirmed to be part of the cast. Emily VanCamp will return as SHIELD agent Sharon Carter and Daniel Brühl also comes back to play Helmut Zemo as the main antagonist for the series, continuing his bad guy status after his appearance in Captain America: Civil War.

Disney+ will be made available on November 12 and will also be home to other upcoming Marvel TV shows like Hawkeye, Loki, She-Hulk, and WandaVision, which will be a huge chunk of ammunition that Disney needs in the streaming wars with Netflix and HBO in the near future.
