Will WarnerMedia’s streaming platform be called HBO Max?

WarnerMedia has yet to announce a launch date for their streaming platform. The newest contender in the streaming wars will likely be dubbed HBO Max.

Multiple news outlets have reported that Warner Media’s streaming venture will arrive sometime in 2020. It is currently the media giant’s biggest project as it plans to release its own subscription-based streaming service.

The streaming wars just get bigger and bigger with more services jumping in. Yet, WarnerMedia hasn’t lost its chill as it continues to display stability in the lead up to its launch. The media conglomerate will be competing against giants Netflix, Hulu and Amazon Prime. Another strong contender that has yet been launched is Disney’s upcoming Disney+.

One streaming service to watch out for is Apple’s venture into the streaming scene. Apple TV+ is set for a release sometime this fall in the U.S. Among their team of A-listers, Oprah Winfrey, Stephen Spielberg, and J.J. Abrams are lined up to create content. Reports have even circulated that the tech giant is eyeing an Oscar with a release of half a dozen movies a year.

Head of WarnerMedia Bob Greenblatt is confident despite the tight competition. He has previously said one of its networks HBO is “the best television on earth.” And we might just have to agree with all the successful shows under its belt. The programming network is home to Game of Thrones, Sex in the City, The Sopranos and Big Little Lies.

Esquire has reported that WarnerMedia’s streaming platform will cost $16-17 a month.
