Will Poulter has exited Amazon Prime’s television adaptation of the Lord of The Rings.
According to a report published by Variety, Poulter will no longer appear in the series due to scheduling conflicts. The Bandersnatch and Midsommar actor’s casting for the high-budget series was previously reported back in September. His role in the show based on J.R.R. Tolkien’s works was not disclosed. The extent of his involvement in the series also remains a mystery.
Amazon Studios is reportedly in search of a replacement for the actor. Names still attached to star in the adaptation include Markella Kavenagh, Joseph Mawle, Maxim Baldry, and Ema Horvath.
Written by JD Payne and Patrick McKay the Lord of the Rings tv series is one of Amazon Prime’s big-budget productions. Signing on as the show’s consulting producer is Bryan Cogman who previously worked on Game of Thrones. J.A. Bayona is attached to direct multiple episodes as per Variety.
According to multiple outlets Poulter was close to striking a deal with Amazon Studios to star as a lead role in the adaptation. The production company has not confirmed Poulter’s potential casting nor has it addressed his exit from the show.
While the show is still in its early stages of production, shooting is expected to begin next year. Empire reports that the series has already been given a second-season renewal by Amazon Prime.
According to speculations, the show might explore the events in the same timeline when the Rings of Power were forged.
