Why Hayden Christensen might return for Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker

Hardcore fans of the Star Wars franchise are gearing up for The Rise of Skywalker’s December debut. As with every fandom, rumors and speculations are surfacing prior to the film’s theatrical release.

One speculation, in particular, is that Hayden Christensen–who plays Anakin Skywalker–might be returning to the franchise 14 years since Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith. Is this merely wishful thinking or is it actually plausible? The rumors of his return are sparked by Christensen being seen in public with Ian McDiarmid who plays Emperor Palpatine.

The recent sightings have fans wondering if Anakin will return for the Skywalker saga’s final installment. With the title literally saying “The Rise of Skywalker” it brings us to think if this is a dead giveaway or something else completely. Another thing that’s keeping the hopes up of fans is that if Emperor Palpatine can return from a deadly fall, why can’t Darth Vader himself?

KUTV first reported the sightings when Christensen and Mcdiarmit were present at a children’s hospital visit in Salt Lake City. A little segue from the FanX Salt Lake Comic Convention. The act of kindness is being interpreted by fans as a marketing gimmick following Disney’s decision to cancel the actors’ panel at the event.

But with something that might be labeled as far-fetched, speculations should be taken with a heaping pound of salt. We can’t blame fans for hoping for what is probably the best, but it won’t hurt to consider the possibilities. So bring it on, Disney! We’re ready for your surprises.
