Why Dwayne Wayde was “freaking out” on his first trip to Old Navy

Dwyane Wade is discovering new things with his extra time following his retirement from the NBA.

The former athlete who recently retired this year after a lengthy 17 basketball seasons just found out about Old Navy. You read that right, and Wayde was absolutely “freaking out” on his first trip to the budget clothing store.

Back in May, Wade’s wife Gabrielle Union jeered at how the basketball star for being dumbstruck the first time he went shopping in Old Navy. She even quipped about how her husband thought one gallon of milk costs USD20. Union made the revelations when she appeared in an episode of The Late Late Show with James Corden.

Now, the former NBA superstar is explaining his side of the story to magazine Sports Illustrated. “Okay so what I was freaking out about — if you want to call it freaking out — was the prices,” Wayde told the publication.

The former basketball player pointed out that it was difficult to be in public and run personal errands at the height of his career. He is, after all, one of the most recognizable players in the NBA as he gained celebrity status throughout the years. According to him, that’s the reason why he had no idea about the cost of everyday items.

“I had a chef to go shopping, a stylist to do this, all that. I don’t really go shopping, so I don’t really know the prices of the stuff.” It’s hard for us to sympathize D. Wayde, but we’ll let it slide.
