The Russo Brothers express their interest in directing MCU’s Wolverine

Wolverine is coming to the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the film might be directed by Joe and Anthony Russo.

The dynamic directing duo recently revealed that if they’re going to direct a film about one Marvel character who isn’t in the MCU, it’s definitely going to be Wolverine. While the duo that brought the Avengers films on the big screen has previously said that they’re taking a break from superhero movies, they are looking forward to collaborating again in the future.

Since Disney’s recent acquisition of assets from 21st Century Fox, a whirlwind of speculation has surfaced about what the studio will do about Fox’s film franchises. Causing quite a stir is X-Men, as Marvel fans look forward to mutants entering the MCU. Audiences have also been very vocal about wanting to see Wolverine under Marvel Studios. Even Hollywood actors have shared their interest in filling up the gaping hole that Hugh Jackman has left as Logan. Jason Momoa (Aquaman), Evan Peters (X-Men franchise) and Taron Edgerton (Kingsman franchise), namely.

Directors Anthony spoke for himself and his brother Joe when he said, “We’ve always loved us some Wolverine.” as a response to fans asking during an AMA session on Reddit. To make things more exciting Disney CEO Bob Iger previously confirmed that some of Fox’s topline assets are now under Marvel Studios. This includes supers Deadpool, Fantastic 4 and X-Men.

However, it might take a while before we see these characters in the MCU. When Marvel revealed phase four of its cinematic universe, the studio’s chief Kevin Feige kept mum on plans with the aforementioned franchises.
