The Rookie’s Afton Williamson drops the names of alleged harassment perpetrators

Just a day going public about the sexual harassment and racial discrimination she experienced on the set of ABC show The Rookie, the show’s star Afton Williamson has come forward with the names of her harassers.

Williamson claims that she was sexually harassed by a recurring guest star and faced racial discrimination and sexual assault from the head of the series’ hair department. In an Instagram post, the actress wrote:

“This season on ‘The Rookie,’ I was sexually harassed by fellow actor Demetrius Grosse. I was Racially Bullied and Discriminated against and Sexually Assaulted by Hair Department Head Sally Nicole Ciganovich.” The post was published along with a photo of what seems to be Williamson’s hand where a small butterfly landed.

Variety reports that Grosse’s reps did not immediately respond to the publication’s request for comment regarding the matter. Showrunner Alexi Hawley and the show’s lead Nathan Fillion has also kept mum about the issue.

Williamson went public with the allegations in a separate Instagram post that she published early Sunday. In that post, the actress detailed claims of racial bullying and harassment against The Rookie’s hair department, a recurring guest star and executive producers.

“During the Season, it continued along with Sexual Harassment from a recurring guest star,Demetrius Grosse, and the racist commentary & bullying from the Hair Dept.Head, Sally Ciganovich escalated into Sexual Assault at our Wrap party,” Williamson wrote in an Instagram post.

The actress also called out the Hawley’s lack of action when she reported the alleged harassment.

“The Sexual Harassment though reported directly to the Showrunner/EP remained undocumented and was not reported to HR as promised. Ciganovich was fired ONLY after the sexual assault and NOT for an entire year of outward racism/racially charged language and bullying behavior in and out of the Hair and Makeup trailer.”
