The 23-year-old actress is ready to move on from playing her beloved character on HBO’s Game of Thrones.
In an interview with Sky News, Sophie Turner said it’s about time to “say goodbye to Sansa”. The actress also added that she believes her “watch has ended” in reference to one of the most iconic lines on the hit television show.
Turner spent about a decade of her life playing the role of Sansa Stark for 8 seasons of ‘Thrones’. The final episode of the series was aired on May 19.
The actress expressed her satisfaction with her character’s ending being hailed as Queen of the North. But the actress won’t be missing her character anytime soon as playing Sansa again “would be just more trauma”.
Although we won’t be seeing her play Sansa anymore, her fans are ready to see her take on other roles. We’ll be seeing her on the big screen as X-Men’s Jean Gray on the upcoming film Dark Phoenix. The film’s initial release is on June 5.
As for Game of Thrones, spin-off shows have already been announced by HBO. According to programming president Casey Bloys, none of the three prequel projects will revolve around the current cast. “I don’t want to take characters from this world that they did beautifully and put them off into another world with someone else creating it. I want to let it be the artistic piece they’ve got,” Bloys said.
The working title of the first spin-off show that has already begun filming is ‘Bloodmoon’ and will be starring Naomi Watts.
