Princess Diana caused a fight between Richard Gere & Sylvester Stallone

Elton John is dropping quite the bomb in his memoir with an excerpt that involves a love triangle between Princess Diana, Richard Gere, and Sylvester Stallone.

The legendary performer wrote about the fiasco in his forthcoming memoir titled “Me”. In an excerpt from the book published by the Daily Mail, John recalled hosting a dinner party. Among the guests were Gere and Stallone who almost squared it out over the late princess.

The 72-year-old singer wrote that the soirée was held in London to honor former Walt Disney Studios chief, Jeffrey Katzenberg. At the time, John was working on music for the animated Disney classic, The Lion King (1994).

“Straight away, Richard Gere and Diana seemed very taken with each other,” John revealed in his memoir. The singer explained that the royal was separated from Prince Charles at the time and Gere was fresh in the market after his breakup with supermodel Cindy Crawford.

“As the rest of us chatted, I couldn’t help notice a strange atmosphere in the room. Judging by the kind of looks he kept shooting them, Diana and Richard Gere’s newly blossoming friendship was not going down well with Sylvester Stallone at all,” John adds.

The singer believes that Stallone appeared at the party wanting to pick things up with Princess Diana.

After a while, guests at the party noticed that Gere and Stallone were absent from the group. He recalled that David Furnish, his now-spouse, found the two “squaring up to each other, apparently about to settle their differences over Diana by having a fist-fight.”
