American television network NBC ordered an early series renewal for its comedy anchor Superstore. Fans will get to see the show release its 6th season along with the recently renewed cop comedy Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
The fifth season of the show starring Latina actress America Ferrera is one of NBC’s best performing comedy series sharing a spot in the top honors with the recently concluded series, The Good Place. The Superstore season five premiere gathered 7.5 viewers across all viewing platforms.
Superstore also continues its streak as NBC’s best series in terms of digital performance with online platforms generating half of its average views according to Deadline. Its tallies tie with that of The Good Place — starring Kristen Bell — as one of NBC most-watched digital series. It is also one of Hulu’s most viewed programs along with the Andy Samberg-headlined Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
The show’s creative team has been updated amid its positive viewing figures with the show’s creator Justin Spitzer stepping down as showrunner. Spitzer shifted his focus on the development of the series as his position is succeeded by Jonathan Green and Gabe Miller.
