Moby apologizes to Natalie Portman after salacious dating claims

This past week, a dating controversy involving Moby and Natalie Portman shook the entire internet.

The drama stemmed from the autobiography Then It Fell Apart written by the 53-year-old musician Moby. In the book, he claims to have dated the 37-year-old actress almost 20 years ago. He recalled meeting Portman after a concert when she was 20 years old.

Not long after an excerpt from his book was published online, Portman slammed the musician calling his advances “creepy” and “inappropriate”. What’s more disturbing is that Portman says they met when she was 18, not 20 as Moby recalled.

Moby then went on to accuse Portman that she was “actively misinterpreting” what he claims to be their “brief involvement”.

In a desperate act to save face and prove that they actually did date back in 2001 Moby turned to Instagram. The musician posted (now deleted) photos of him together with the actress twice in the same day. He calls these posts “ample photographic evidence” that the two actually dated.

Last Saturday, Moby turned to Instagram once again this time apologizing to Natalie Portman, sort of.

Although he apologized for not reaching out to the actress regarding her inclusion in the book, he made no effort to retract his claim that they dated. The musician also acknowledged the backlash he received of regarding the age gap between him and Portman.

“Also I accept that given the dynamic of our almost 14-year age difference I absolutely should’ve acted more responsibly and respectfully when Natalie and I first met almost 20 years ago,” he wrote in his post.

Natalie Portman has yet to respond to the apology.
