Lucy Hale is living the celebrity dream, but like any other ordinary person, she used to be scared of being single.

The actress graced the cover of Cosmopolitan magazine’s March issue wheres she admitted that being alone took some time to get used to.

“When I was younger, I was constantly wanting to be with or date someone because I was so deathly afraid of being single or by myself,” she said in the interview. “Now, I’m at the point where if I meet someone, they better really elevate my life, because I love being single.”

And when she was looking for someone to be with, she was particularly attracted to “damaged people who had been through some s**t.” But now, all she’s looking for is someone who is “nice but not boring… nice but not a dud.”

Hale has shifted her focus away from her dating life but she’s making sure to get some action on the site. The star admitted that she is currently on an exclusive dating app, one that other celebrities are into as well. One particular celeb who caught her attention is singer John Mayer.

“John Mayer is on there. And I pressed yes for him, but I don’t think he pressed yes for me,” she revealed. When asked if his star-studded lineup of ex-girlfriends — Jessica Simpson, Taylor Swift, and Katy Perry — intimidated her, she says it doesn’t matter to her.

“I’m so drawn to musical talent, I don’t care,” she answered. Let’s hope Mayer finds out and finally considers asking her out on a date.
