Julia Stiles airs her frustrations on the entertainment industry

Julia Stiles’ breakout role as Kat Stratford in 10 Things I Hate About You (1999) launched her into teen stardom. But by the time she passed her twenties, Stiles reveals that she was “worried” about her career in the industry.

The actress got real about her career going downhill in an interview she recently appeared on The Daily Beast. Stiles — who stars in the stripper heist flick Hustlers — notes that she was “worried about where my career was going.”

Stiles then detailed her frustration with the entertainment industry saying she felt l “like nobody knew what to do with me.”

“You know, I had had some success in my twenties and now I’m in a different place in my life and I didn’t really fit anywhere,” the 38-year-old actress adds.

After the success of 10 Things I Hate About You, the actress struggled to keep her career afloat. Her next handful of movies kept bombing at the box office and none of her projects have found the same luster as her 1999 breakout flick. Stiles was also a victim of Hollywood typecasting as she was reportedly given roles that fit the teen leading lady stereotype.

Now, the actress might just have another chance at reviving her career as with the highly-anticipated film Hustlers.

She says that the Constance Wu and Jennifer Lopez headlined film “is such an affirmation that like I have a place in the film industry and stories that I’m interested in are being told.”
While Stiles might have been stressing over her career two or three years ago now she says she’s in a pretty good place.
