Jason Boyd reflects on his business, Evolve Digital

Jason Boyd is the founder of the boutique digital marketing firm, Evolve Digital. His business model is built on providing clients with consistent, reliable digital marketing services, specialising in SEO engagement. On top of his SEO services, Evolve Digital offer a range of customised offerings, often relating to Facebook marketing, AdWords management and even website design.

Jason answered a few questions we had about the business and the wider industry.

Hi Jason, what inspired you to start Evolve Digital?

I have provided SEO services since the late 1990’s. I traded under my own name for many years, until I established Evolve Digital. Evolve Digital is the result of my desire to present my services in a more organised way, but also to ensure that clients know they are dealing with a professional firm.

What was your background prior to starting the company and how did it help you?

I ran a landscaping company for several years, where I learnt that customers not only want to see a good end product, they also want to be involved in the process. I also learnt how to promote my own business on the internet, before taking on other clients.

What areas of digital marketing do you specialise in for your clients?

My specialty is Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) for Google. SEO is all about tailoring your website’s copy and content to maximise the written value of your website. By including keywords and targeted phrases, my firm can help your business gain more visitors from organic Google rankings. This is because your website will feature at a higher, more competitive position in the rankings, drawing more organic traffic and eventual customers.

What makes your agency unique?

I am a small agency without accountant managers or salesmen. I perform all the SEO work myself and I am intimately involved with a client’s success or failure. My work is data-driven and closely tested to achieve strong results. Because I have such a close eye on all my clients, I believe this makes my agency more personable and friendly. My clients don’t have to put up with nagging, ambiguous salesman because they get to speak directly to the person involved in their marketing campaign – me!

What are the most important aspects to get a website high in Google search results?

Google is assessing you as a business these days, not just a website. So, do the things a good business should do. Perform marketing outside of Google, ask your customers for positive reviews, look to promote yourself on other people’s websites. Finally, have patience. Building a strong SEO portfolio doesn’t happen overnight, it can take many months.

What are some of the future trends you predict will influence the digital marketing industry and how are you preparing for them?

Google is looking more and more at promoting strong, trustworthy brands in each industry. Therefore, we are helping our clients to establish themselves as ‘brands’. This is done by combining traditional SEO methods with other marketing methods such as PR, social marketing and video. Social media marketing has seriously taken off in recent years and is now arguably one of the most important tools in the marketing mix. These days and well into the future, I think we as marketers can expect the social media space to evolve in importance and power.
