Inside Kit Harington’s role as Black Knight in Marvel’s The Eternals

Another Marvel comic book character is entering the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the excitement amongst fans is brewing.

Black Knight will make an appearance in the highly-anticipated superhero flick, The Eternals. Taking on the role is Kit Harington, the British actor best known for his role as Jon Snow in HBO’s Game of Thrones. The big news of Harington’s move into Marvel Studios was announced on August 23 at the D23 Expo in Anaheim, California.

While Disney relentlessly bombarded fans with info on Disney+ and details about a lineup of new attraction in its theme parks, very few news elicited the kind of excitement that Harington’s Marvel involvement was able to. Since then, fans have been actively speculating about what his character as Black Knight will be like once he is brought on the big screen.

Next to being in the most prominent TV series in today’s pop culture, Harington will now be joining the most prominent cinematic franchise. Not bad eh? So what should we expect from the Black Night?

One notable detail is that he’s not one of the Eternals, which is described as “a fictional race of humanoids”. Instead, the Black Night is actually a hero mantle passed on from one to another. Harington will be playing Dane Whitman, who is actually the third to take on the title. His involvement in The Eternals might be backed by the comic book character’s relationship with an Eternal named Sersi. With that being said, Harington won’t just be a minor role in the upcoming film. And even Marvel Studios exec Kevin Feige reportedly teased that his character might develop into something more in the future.
