Harry Styles is rumored to play Prince Eric in The Little Mermaid remake

Harry Styles may have lost Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis Presley role to Austin Butler, but looks like he still has a movie of his own to look forward to. The former One Direction member is reportedly in early talks to play the charming Prince Eric in The Little Mermaid remake.

If a deal is struck, the singer will act opposite Halle Bailey, who was cast for the role of Ariel earlier this month. Disney’s live-action remake of the iconic 1989 animated classic seems to be getting a fresh new spin. Prince Eric doesn’t really sing in the original movie, but with Style’s vocal prowess, we might just be getting the prince of our dreams-one who actually can sing! We’d hate to get ahead of ourselves, but who isn’t looking forward to new music from the Sign of the Times hitmaker?

The budding actor’s silver screen debut is far from minor with Christopher Nolan’s Oscar-nominated Dunkirk under his name. Styles played a British soldier trying to desperately escape doom in the hands of German forces in the Battle of Dunkirk. This put his name beside those of actors Cillian Murphy and Tom Hardy. Let’s with his acting chops, talent for singing and legions of fans, let’s just say casting him won’t be a difficult decision for Disney to make.

The Little Mermaid’s forthcoming live-action version will be directed by Rob Marshall and will feature original and new music from Alan Menken and producer Lin-Manuel Miranda.

Production will reportedly begin early 2020, no second takes Disney! You have your Prince Eric right where you want him.
