Arguably one of the most controversial Netflix series to be binge watched by many is Sex Education. The charming com-dram won the hearts of many by making viewers realise that everyone has had to go through the awkward years of being a teenager.

If you are yet to watch the series, the story line revolves around Otis (played by Asa Butterfield) a repressed virgin who forms an unlikely friendship with misunderstood Maeve (Emma Mackey). The duo offer sex advice to their confused classmates based on everything Otis has learnt from his sex therapist mum (Gillian Anderson).

The series is certainly quirky, but it addresses current issues that many teens and young adults face. After watching one episode you are sure to be hooked.

Those that have already finished the series were left wanting more.  Fans have now got their wish as the popular streaming service Netflix has just confirmed that the show has been renewed for a second season.

It appears that it is not only viewers that are excited about this, with the show creator Laurie Nunn claiming:

“The reception to series one has been so exciting… I can’t wait to continue this amazing journey.”

So it’s clear that everyone is excited for season 2, but what cast members are returning for it?

Fans can relax, as it has been confirmed that all of the main cast members are returning for season 2! This means that viewers will be seeing much more of Otis, Maeve, Eric, Aimee, Jackson and Adam. Of course, fans will also get to see more of the overprotective but lovable Jean (Otis’ mum), played by Gillian Anderson will also be staring in the second season.

Many fans are already wondering what’s in store for the characters in season 2, but show creator Laurie Nunn is keeping this information close to her chest.

“We will always come back to Otis. He’s a fantastic leading character but the fact that we’ve got this great ensemble and these amazing young actors who have also just brought so much to those characters. It just feels like they could go anywhere. ”

Does this mean viewers will get to learn more about the other characters? It appears that fans will have to wait to find out.

Unfortunately there is still no news on the release date of season 2. Fans will just have to wait patiently for Netflix to reveal this information. But, if season 1 is anything to go by, the wait will certainly be worth it!
