Gemma Chan rumored to appear in Marvel’s The Eternals

Fresh off Captain Marvel, Gemma Chan might have a new Marvel Studios gig in the upcoming The Eternals.

Chan, who received worldwide recognition in Crazy Rick Asians, is in early tack to join the forthcoming Marvel film as reported by Variety.

If a deal is struck, Chan would be joining a star-studded cast that includes previously announced stars Angelina Jolie, Richard Madden, Brian Tyree Henry, Salma Hayek, and Kumail Nanjiani. This would be her second project with Marvel Studios after appearing in Captain Marvel as Minn-Erva. It is not known if she will be reprising her role for The Eternals or if she will be taking on something completely different. As per Variety’s sources, the actress might be playing a different character. If true, Chan would be the first actor to play two different roles in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Jack Kirby’s 1976 comic book The Eternals takes place millions of years in the past. It chronicles the story of how cosmic being known as Celestials (think Kurt Russell’s Ego from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2) created super-humans called the Eternals along with villainous counterparts, the Deviants. The two groups fought each other throughout history as the Eternals battled against earth’s deities.

The film adaptation of Kirby’s comic book will be part of MCU’s Phase 4. It will be the cinematic universe’s 25th film and is set for a November 6, 2020 debut. Chloe Zhao is set to helm the film from a script penned by Matthew and Ryan Firpo. As expected, Marvel Studios exec Kevin Feige will produce.
