Fortnite player? here’s how to earn loot by watching YouTube videos

Fortnite players can now get free cosmetics almost a week ahead of the Fortnite World Cup.

Players know that like most other games, Fortnite and YouTube basically co-exist. And to prepare gamers for the highly-anticipated World Cup, Epic Games is letting players earn free loot from watching matches on YouTube.

“Drops” allows gifts players special Fortnite cosmetics when they link their accounts to YouTube and watch specific Fortnite events. The gaming company previously launched a similar initiative on Twitch. Now, the partnership reportedly stems from Fortnite’s content popularity on the video-sharing site. The Fortnite World Cup will be held on the 26th of July and is expected to pull in millions of viewers as top players vie for a USD30 million prize pool. Single players will be competing for USD3 Million dollars in the global tournament.

So how can you get all that loot? Epic Games said in a blog post that players simply watch 20 minutes of a broadcast to get your drop. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to link your account to YouTube:

  1. Sign in to your YouTube account in a desktop browser.
  2. Go straight to Accounts and choose Settings.
  3. Select your Epic Games account seen under the section “Connected accounts”

Don’t have an Epic Games account? No problem. Just create one and get to Step 2. Choose Connect and sign in to your Epic Games account.

As for the specific event that will introduce Drops, it will be “Game Jam Hollywood” so be on the watch for it!
