Fast and Furious franchise confirms talks with Keanu Reeves

Rumors surfaced earlier this year about the possibility of Keanu Reeves joining the Fast & Furious franchise in Hobbs & Shaw. As it turns out, there’s no truth to the rumors but don’t fret because that won’t be the only chance we’ll get to see Reeves in the Fast & Furious universe.

Hobbs & Shaw director David Leitch — who also worked closely with Reeves in the first John Wick film — debunked the aforementioned rumors. Now, the writer of the film Chris Morgan has confirmed that Reeves is in talks to join the movie franchise.

Morgan told Screen Rant that he had a sit-down with the John Wick star to work out his possible appearance in a Fast & Furious film. He also revealed that Reeves joining the franchise has been a long time coming. “I sat down with him and we’re talking about. I wanted him to be in the Fast universe for a very long time,” the screenwriter said.

However, Morgan did point out that certain aspects can get in the way of Reeves finally joining the universe. “We’re just trying to find… the hardest thing is always time and competing schedules and then designing the right thing together. My fervent desire is to bring him into this franchise for sure.”

Well, there you have it. Fans who share Morgan’s wish can still have their hopes up. Neither of the parties involved had completely shut down the concept of Reeves being in the franchise. And now, we at least know something is being worked out and with Morgan backing it, we can hope that it will materialize in the near future.
