Comedian Kevin Hart is recovering from the serious back injuries he sustained after a dangerous car accident that involved him and two others.

Eniko Hart, Kevin’s wife, was making her way to visit him at the hospital where he is currently confined a day after news broke of the car crash. Speaking to TMZ, the mother of Kevin’s youngest son says “He’s great,” and that “he’s going to be just fine.”

Celebrity news outlet Entertainment Tonight reports that the comedian/actor had to undergo back surgery to correct his injuries and is currently on bed rest.

Kevin’s wife said “He’s good. Everybody’s good, thank God,” and “He’s fine. He’s awake.” However, she did not that the comedian wasn’t in the condition to start playing jokes any time soon.
The nerve-wracking accident took place before 1:00 AM last Sunday according to authorities. On the wheel of Hart’s Plymouth Barracuda was his personal driver Jared Black who lost control of the vehicle before it went straight down a ditch in Calabasas, California. Along with them was an unnamed passenger who reportedly did not sustain any major injuries.

Black, on the other hand, was hospitalized along with Hart. Officials confirm that he was not under the influence of alcohol at the time.

The star’s Plymouth Barracuda suffered a worse fate with its roof being crushed beyond repair due to the impact. The vintage vehicle was a gift that Hart bought himself for his 40th birthday back in July.

“Black immediately lost control of the vehicle and the Plymouth left the road and rolled over down the northern embankment,” a report released by authorities said of what happened.
