Demi Lovato recalls coming out to her parents: “I’m so grateful”

Demi Lovato and her parents had an exchange about her sexuality a couple of years ago when she decided it was time to come out to them.

The songstress shared the “beautiful” conversation she had with them back in 2017 when she confessed to her parents that “ending up possibly with a woman” was something she could see for herself and that she was “still figuring it out.”

Lovato appeared on Andy Cohen’s “Radio Andy” on SiriusXM for an interview. Discussing her personal life to the tv and radio host, she delved into her coming out story.

“It was actually, like, emotional but really beautiful,” she said. “After everything was done, I was, like, shaking and crying, and I just felt overwhelmed.”

The former Disney star lauded her parents for being “incredible” and “supportive” after their conversation. “My dad was like, ‘Yeah, obviously,'” she said about her father’s reaction. “And I was like, ‘Oh, OK, Dad.’ My mom was the one that I was, like, super nervous about, but she was just like, ‘I just want you to be happy,'” Lovato added.

“That was so beautiful and amazing, and like I said, I’m so grateful.”

On the radio show, Lovato also discussed whether or not she sees herself with a family one day.

“I don’t know what my future looks like,” she pondered. “I don’t know if I’m going to have kids this year or in 10 years. I don’t know if I’m going to do it with a partner or without.”
