Constance Wu is opening up about her Fresh Off the Boat related Twitter meltdown and the diva allegations thrown her way while filming Hustlers.

While the actress made headlines for her box-office hit movie Crazy Rich Asians last year, Wu has been facing bad publicity this year. The actress had to release a public apology in back in May after going on a Twitter meltdown over Fresh Off the Boat’s renewal. Wu, who plays a primary character in the comedy series was evidently upset with the show’s renewal as she posted explicit Twitter rants upon receiving the news.

Not long after that, reports surfaced that Wu was acting like a “diva” on the set of the upcoming film Hustlers. And almost immediately after the trailer dropped, the star drew more flak for reportedly asking to top bill the credits of the film.

Now, Wu is speaking her truth in an interview with The Los Angeles Times. The star says her tweet spree wasn’t intended to offend anyone from Fresh Off the Boat. Although the star did admit that her “dramatic” reaction stemmed from being frustrated about another project she had to skip on because of her two-year contract with the show.

“I had this moment of heat where I got upset because I had to give up a job I had been looking forward to and had been chasing for a while,” Wu explains about her “Twitter fiasco.”

The star then went on to say that members of the show even reached out to her to say there was no harm done. “Because they also know that I’m an actress — I can be dramatic,” the actress added.

As for the drama surrounding her Hustlers role she had this to say:

“A woman owning her power rather than being like, ‘Who, me?’ I think, is a threat to the patriarchy. I know some people were like, ‘Constance demanded top billing.’ No, the script had me as the lead. But it’s a juicier story to say the other stuff.”
