While Colin Jost is engaged to Scarlett Johansson, the comedian used to find it hard to imagine being a married man. Jost joked about his insights on marriage prior to meeting Johansson during a stand-up set at the Guild Hall in the Hamptons last Saturday. The comedic performance was for the benefit of celiac disease research.
āItās madness to me,ā Jost said about the Hamptons. āItās like, ālook, I put in 1,000 bushes so I never have to see my neighbor.ā āOh, who do you live next to?ā āBilly Joel!ā āYou see him a lot?ā āNo, no, he put up 2,000 bushes.āāā
When his audience noticed the engagement band on his ring finger the Saturday Night Live comedian delved into marriage, saying, āIām getting married and itās such a crazy thing,ā as reported by Page Six.
āI was so scared of marriage for so long because every time I talked to someone who just got married, or was about to get married, is like, āOh my God, you got to do it ā¦ What could go wrong?āā he quipped.
Jost continued, āThen you talk to someone whoās been married for five years, and theyāre like, āDonāt rush into it ā¦ you have your whole life ahead of you. Donāt have kids. Theyāre the worst.āā
Johansson and Jost made headlines when they got engaged in May after dating for two years. The actress was seen sporting an 11-carat ring when she appeared at the recently concluded San Diego Comic-Con.
