Channing Tatum abandons social media to be in “the real world”

Channing Tatum is stepping back from social media and his reason behind the move is absolutely relatable.

The actor took to, where else, but Instagram last Wednesday to inform his fans and followers that he’s taking time off from social media. Tatum says he’s putting the phone down to end a couple of years that he’s been creatively stunted. After all, we all need to take a step back from the screens and see what’s out in the world for endless inspiration.

“I’m gonna take a break and come off socials for a minute,” the Magic Mike star wrote informing over 17 million of his followers. “I’ve been trying to get inspired and create again. And to be honest I don’t really feel, or at least I haven’t felt very creative on social in the last couple years now. I’m gonna go and be just in the real world for a while and off my phone,” he continued.

But is this really the end of Tatum’s relationship with social media? Maybe not. According to the 39-year-old actor, he’ll be returning in the foreseeable future. But here’s the catch, Tatum’s return to social media will have to be for a good reason as he wants to focus on what content he wants to deliver to fans.

Taking a social media hiatus seems to be a trend among celebrities nowadays. Stars who temporarily opted out of social media platforms include Selena Gomez, Demi Lovato, Iggy Azalea and Sarah Hyland. Tatum’s lady love Jessie J has also previously ditched socials earlier this year to recuperate emotionally from the death of the singer’s bodyguard.
