Billy Bob Thornton is offering everyone a glance into his friendship with ex-wife Angelina Jolie.
The exes are able to maintain a cordial relationship despite their breakup about two decades ago. Speaking to Us Weekly at the Tribeca TV Festival’s premiere of Goliath last Friday he says: “We’re good friends. We’ve been friends for years and years and years.”
The 64-year-old actor tells the publication, “So we keep up with each other. She’s not in town a lot, so we don’t see each other much, but we talk.”
Before there was ever “Brangelina”, Jolie was married to the Sling Blade star. They tied the not in May of 2000 and called it quits two years into the marriage by June 2002. Their split was official when the pair’s divorce was finalized in May 2003. Jolie and Pitt, later on, admitted to falling in love the year later while they starred in the film “Mr. & Mrs. Smith.” The shocking revelation was met with controversy as Pitt was married to ex-wife Jennifer Aniston at the time.
Jolie and Thornton’s relationship was considered an odd one at the time. Everyone seemed to tell that the two weren’t exactly compatible with each other despite looking madly in love in multiple red carpet events. They even went so far as to wear each other’s blood in matching vial necklaces in one event.
Aside from their 20-year- age difference, Thornton revealed that they both lead different lifestyles. The actor revealed in a November 2016 GQ interview that he “never felt good enough for her.”
